Treatment Facilities

You’re in this line of work because you have a desire to help people. You, or someone close to you, dealt with the disease of addiction, and something incredible happened: the battle was won! Knowing the realities of addiction from the “before” and “after” perspective gives you reason to support others who face the battle.

How can you help as many people as you possibly can, giving each patient the best care and support available, and prepare them to leave treatment at some point, ready to lead clean and sober lives?  Perhaps “the way it’s always been done” isn’t the best approach any more. So many innovations in treatment, and in technology, are available—if only you knew where to find them..

That’s where KD Consulting can help. In the past 15 years, the principals of KD Consulting have been involved in all facets of addiction treatment, from intervention to aftercare, working with centers across the country. This has allowed them to watch numerous programs in action—from their call centers to their counseling sessions—and find the best procedures available, then polish these practices in their own hands-on work with treatment centers.

You can take advantage of their keen insights and cutting edge information, to help you provide the “best of the best” to your patients and their families. Have you ever wondered:

- How to get patients to tell the truth during the admissions process?
(Here’s a hint: the interventionist can help)

- How to close 3% or more of your call center’s incoming help calls?
(Better technology isn’t necessarily the answer)

- How your admissions staff can do an “end run” around the HIPPA laws when a
patient wants to bail out of treatment?
(There’s nothing unethical about it—the patient will have made all the arrangements!)

KD Consulting can provide in-house seminars, training your utilization team, clinical staff, call center team and admissions department to interact as a team, focusing on treatment consistency.

We can train your clinical staff how to interact with the patient’s family and the interventionist to keep patients in treatment for the duration. KD Consulting’s staff will show your employees how to maintain healthy boundaries with patients, while interacting enough (and doing the “right” things) to make a difference when “crunch time” comes: if the patient wants to discontinue treatment, or refuses to participate in his or her recovery plan.

We can work with your call center staff to maximize their closing ratios on calls, and how to overcome the challenges of the disease of addiction when speaking with addicts.

As part of our “Day-to-Day Operations” package, we offer a three to five day onsite evaluation, assessing your center’s daily activities, with an eye to making the facility work better as a whole. Our “Treatment Center Monitoring” program brings a talented team of specialists into your center, looking at your facility’s top-to-bottom operations, then showing how your staff can increase care levels, improve occupancy census, increase profitability, and provide outstanding aftercare programs.

Are you planning to expand or open a new treatment center? KD Consulting can help you with recruiting, training and retention of the best candidates for clinical staff, interventionists, counselors, and other key positions.

Does this stuff belong here?

The training, recruitment, and retention of the most qualified professionals for the substance abuse treatment workforce is a crucial underlying strategy in the improvement of client care. Conducted in the year 2000, this survey of substance abuse treatment agency directors and clinical staff in the Pacific Northwest of the United States provides the first empirical estimates of issues surrounding these goals and points to the need for more aggressive strategies if a quality workforce is to be maintained and improved. Results of the survey indicate that there is an average of 25% turnover per year among treatment agency staff, and that the vast majority of this turnover is voluntary and stays within the treatment profession. Agency management and direct service staff differ in their perceptions of the recruitment and retention approaches currently in place in their agencies.
